Films are a very special medium: They show the world, bring back memories, provide knowledge and we get in touch with all kinds of people. Our catalogue includes nearly 100 pedagogically valuable German children and youth films, which were shown in our festival section Focus Germany over the past years. Among them are outstanding current productions as well as real classics. Our aim is to focus on the cultural significance, the artistic quality of a movie and its suitability for the target audience.

Eleven-year old Michi is a fighter and a little braggart. After his mother’s death, he lives in a children’s home and has to stand up to the older guys every day. When he happens to find the address of his unknown father, he hopes to finally get an ally – one who is tall and strong and stands by his side. But then Michi discovers that Tom is definitely not a “big and strong superhero” but a man of small stature, not taller than himself ...

At the beginning of October 2018 the International Film Festival SCHLINGEL once again attracted all film fans, young and old, professionals, international guests, actors, filmmakers and producers to the city's cinemas. More than 230 films from all over the world were shown and the film teams were also present to talk about their productions. In workshops, children and young people were able to gain first experiences of working with cameras, while the 'SCHLINGEL Industry Forum' offers professionals the best networking opportunities.
